Adventure and travel were early passions for Laura as a young girl growing up on the Eastern shore of Maryland. . . traveling to Europe in the early 70’s with a backpack was the beginning of what would become an essential part of her life. A trek on the Appalachian Trail one summer further deepened her spirit of independence and a strong pull to see the world. Her explorations opened doors to a myriad of creative endeavors, including singing, acting, writing and studying the art of food and wine. “When I met my dearest friend and husband Adam in NYC, I began a truly lasting life partnership. Raising our two children, Zachary and Julianna has been the important mission in my life.“ A small Yoga co-op in New Jersey was home to her first years of yoga practice. As her physical and spiritual awareness began to unfold, she recognized the seeds of a powerful direction. Walking into Bliss Yoga Center in Woodstock, New York was a memorable day. The strong sense of belonging and “coming home” was the catalyst for studying to become a teacher. She completed her first 200 hour level certification at Bliss and followed with numerous trainings with esteemed senior teachers. She has had the honor of studying with Shiva Rea, Max Strom, Sharon Gannon and David Life, Guru Mukh, Don Stapleton and Dharma Mittra. She is devoted to the Krishnamacharya lineage, while exploring the teachings of Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara and Kundalini Yoga. Building a strong relationship with her community, neighbors and students has provided a container in which to grow as a teacher. With a strong foundation in Vinyasa flow (“movement guided by breath”), she infuses ancient and contemporary spiritual teachings, poetry, storytelling, pranayama and chanting into her classes. With a welcoming heart, she creates space for students to open to self inquiry and love. Co-creating Yoga Mala and Pike Lane Bed and Breakfast gives her great joy each day. |
